My background is as a business psychologist specialising in stress management, resilience and workplace mental health. I've been in this field for more than 20 years. My business, Work-Life Solutions, provides in-house training and consultancy services. I've developed a range of stress risk management and consultancy tools, and many training courses, mostly designed for managers or for organisational use. I've also developed train-the-trainer products. I provide services directly to corporate clients and through partnership working with Occupational Health Providers. I also work collaboratively with professional colleagues, mostly but not exclusively psychologists.
Managing Stress Risks at Work (training for managers, including stress risk assessment and management tools)
Managing Mental Health Absence (training for managers, including access to online resources)
Mental Health First Aid (through my network of accredited MHFA trainers)
Resilience training (for managers and all employees)
Benchmarking Organisational Mental Health (consultancy aimed at benchmarking an organisation's performance in managing stress and mental health, including benchmarking against mental health 'core' and 'enhanced' standards)
Stress & Mental Health Policy Development and Implementation (consultancy, which can also involve development of interventions like management training to support implementation)
Stress Risk Assessment Services (consultancy: for organisations; for managers and teams; for managers and individual employees)
I run public training events and conferences too, usually related to workplace mental health and stress. I'm always up for collaborative working and delighted to explore business ideas with fellow members! I'll be running some events at the Collabor8te training room, so hope to see fellow members there.
I've worked with all types of organisation across all sectors, including some of the UK's biggest companies and public sector organisation but also SMEs (who often have particular challenges accessing workplace mental health services). I work with clients all over the UK and occasionally in Europe.
My other hat is as a trustee and board member at a Glasgow-based homelessness called The Marie Trust. My first career was in social work and I retain a strong interest in social issues. I hope to take on further non-exec roles to support boards with strategic advice around managing mental health at work.
